San Fransisco duo The Church Steps have been astonishing listeners with its complex mix of electronic beats, minimalist acoustic guitar work, crashing ambient waves and hushed vocal melodies. The Church Steps drop five gorgeous NEW songs following their acclaimed 2000 release, “Jewelry”.(Dial).

The Church Steps consists of Mike Donovan on guitar/vox and Chris Douglas on laptop, keyboard, beats. Mike has spent time with various SF bands(Del Velum, Ropers) before hooking up with Chris in 1999, he is the force behind ( )Dial Records, home of O.S.T., Hotfuckingjets, Prosthetic Guitars, among others. He has collaborated with Kit Clayton and is a current member or Iran(tUMUlt). Chris Douglas(O.S.T., Rook Vallade) released his first 12” in 1993 on Detroit noise/techno imprint Switch. Since that time he has gone on to release 15 records on labels including Phthalo, Emanate, Diskono, Worm Interface and ( )Dial. His tracks have been compiled with such electronic luminaries as Boards of Canada, Autechre and u-Ziq.
